The New White Steamer Hamburgers in Washington

It's always great to get a sack of burgers when we are in Washington. They are delicious and the smell is intoxicating. Comfort food done right.

Typical old time 50-60s diner feel. Burgers are flat top smash type burgers and are pretty good.

We have a family tradition of going to the White Steamer when we get together for the holidays. My great uncle used to grill the burgers a long time ago. My grandma says the bar stools, floors, and lots of other things in the restaurant are the originals. The burgers are very good and the shakes are milky (aka the real thing.) You can also get a sack of burgers to go (they're even better leftover.) If you want to get to know Indiana this is the place to do it. Everything from the photos of their regular customers on the napkin dispensers to the homage to Route 66 in the decorations are a true and authentic representation of Indiana's version of Americana.

Great food. Old fashioned small town diner. Good price. Known for there great burgers. Recommend for a vist.

Definitely one of those hidden gems. Super friendly staff and quite possibly some of the best burgers I've ever had! I've personally never been dissapointed.

Their burgers are good but nothing to write home about. Their milkshakes are good but I would rather have one from hardee's. It takes them almost forever to make the food if they are semi crowded.

Ordered their tenderloin sandwich- was ok. Not the best that I’ve had. But it was a large portion. Had their double burger - really good. I didn’t get sick like my friend lol. Would order again. Always crowded inside. Hard to find seats. Cash only if I recall. Would recommend this diner.

I love walking down Main Street and catching a whiff ....of the white steamer. . Hamburgers lots of grill onions pickle steamed bun. unbelievable if you haven't had any in awhile boy it sure brings back memories

Good old fashioned American comfort food! Great value for what you get. The whole restaurant has that down home atmosphere. As you look around you see people from the community sitting in the booths and tables just fellowshipping and catching up on the latest gossip.

Hmmmm good food

What a delightful and cozy little diner. My hamburger was very good and the onion rings were perfect. Staff are friendly and attentive. This is one of those places were you go with your friends for a quick lunch and a good time.

Burgers are delicious. Service is ok. Remember if you're eating here, it's cash only. They do not accept cards.

A local favorite. This place is your classic "hole-in-the-wall" burger joint that serves everything "old school". Classic fountain drinks, and a variety of fried foods. Just a note, the double cheeseburger is just a slightly larger burger. Food was good and the place was very busy. Take cash, as they do not accept credit or debit cards. I felt like I was a kid again.

Food is great. Staff is great. But the place needs a SERIOUS remodel.

Was sitting at the news paper office 2 blocks away and could smell the aroma of the freshly fried hamburgers and decided we had to have some. There is nothing else like the smell of White Steamer hamburgers. The waitress was so friendly and the people very cordial.

If you are in the Washington IN area White Steamer is a blast from the past (think 60s) it’s worth a visit. All the charm and nostalgia of a different era without even trying. Friendly waitress and locals helping me decide what to have for lunch on a hot rainy Thursday in southwestern IN. I had a double cheeseburger. It’s not paradise but definitely delicious. Oh, they have a lot of other choices besides burgers; but that’s their legacy.

The PLACE is SO BEYOND just 5 stars..Dustin & Marybeth should be their ambassadors( & no offence but whatever they are being paid should be on) the Hamburgers..no way to describe them with any justice..just do yourself a favor,IF in Was In. GO! The ONLY advise I make to owners, EMBRACE the "Classic " feel of this wonderful place,Classic uniforms on wait staff, cooks etc.

The place will take you back to a similar time. I went here a lot with my grandpa and I can still smell the burger and onion rings. This place is frozen in time and a great family owned dinner. It sits at the end of Main Street the last time I was there and it was not ADA assessable.

Burgers are worth driving for! Service is A+ as well. I wish I lived closer for sure.

Love this place - like walking back in time when "dinners" were the norm. Always great food and the staff always attentive. We drive 60 miles for a "steamer" burger grilled the old fashioned way. The german fries and cole slaw my favorite sides. Ask the owner the proper way to have your cole slaw. 🤔😍😎
